Cultivating a Greener Tomorrow

Nepal generates more clean electricity than it can use, and spills the difference. CloudFARM is being built to buy that power and turn it into AI compute — for the agriculture, research and enterprise workloads this region needs, and for the world's.

Start with the waste, not the promise

Most sustainability pages open with what a company gives back. Ours opens with a problem that already exists, that we did not create, and that our business happens to solve.

1,000MW · THE EXPORT CEILING

Through the monsoon of FY 2025-26, Nepal exported around 1,000 MW on average. The 400kV Dhalkebar–Muzaffarpur line that carries it has a transfer capacity of exactly 1,000 MW.

The export route is full. Every additional megawatt Nepal's rivers produce has one place left to go — a large industrial buyer inside the country. There are very few, so the surplus is shed.

Meanwhile AI compute is being built in places where the marginal kilowatt-hour comes from gas or coal.

CloudFARM exists in the gap between those two facts. A high-density GPU cluster is precisely the steady, high-value domestic base-load that turns stranded runoff into something worth having. That is not a green initiative bolted onto a compute business — it is why the compute business is viable here at all.

Clean power at the source

The IEA records that almost the totality of Nepal's electricity comes from hydropower, at an industrial rate of $0.07–0.08 per kWh. We draw from that grid directly rather than buying offset certificates against a fossil-fuelled one.

Built for work that can move

Model training and batch inference do not care where they run or, often, exactly when. That makes them the ideal load to follow clean energy — and it is the workload class we are designed around, rather than latency-critical serving.

Compute for what Nepal grows

Agriculture is 21.9% of Nepal's GDP, and national digital-transformation programmes in agriculture are among the workloads we are built to serve. Yield forecasting and remote sensing need GPUs. Today that work leaves the country to run.

Three of these you can verify today from public sources. One is a commitment we have not yet met. We have marked which is which, because a sustainability page that blurs the two is worth nothing to anyone doing due diligence — and the people we want as customers are exactly the people who check.

Each of these is a decision already taken about how Phase 1 gets built, not a line written for this page.

Flexible workloads follow the water

Batch inference, training and other time-shiftable jobs get scheduled toward the wet season, when the grid has the most spare clean energy and the fewest buyers for it. Customers who can wait pay less; the grid wastes less. Both sides win from the same decision.

Grid-first, diesel-last

Diesel backup is the standard answer to Nepal's reliability question, and it quietly undoes the entire clean-energy case. We are designing around grid redundancy and the strengthened transmission backbone instead — and we will say so publicly if that turns out to be harder than planned.

Measured, then published

Energy and water figures come from meters and get published on a fixed schedule — not recalculated when the numbers are unflattering. Third-party verification once volume justifies the cost of it.

Hardware stays in the authorised chain

Every accelerator, chassis and component requiring service is handled through authorised NVIDIA and Supermicro engineering channels. Nothing is resold, reassigned or exported outside the approved boundary — which is both an export-compliance commitment and, in practice, how e-waste gets prevented.

A reforestation programme, in preparation

Work is under way on a tree-planting initiative with a Nepali municipality, with people already assigned to it. Land allocation and forestry clearances are not yet granted, so we are naming no location, no date and no number of trees until they are. When it is real we will say so here, with the permits attached.

What we are not claiming

This is the section most sustainability pages leave out. It is here because being caught overstating would cost us far more than being early and honest — and because the buyers worth having are the ones who read this part first.

  • Nothing is racked. Phase 1 is a single trial cluster, on order and awaiting allocation approval. Every operational figure on this page is a design commitment, not a measurement.

  • No PUE has been measured. Any efficiency figure we quoted today would be a model, not a meter reading, so we quote none.

  • No carbon accounting has been audited. We hold no ISO 14001, no SOC 2, no third-party environmental certification. We will tell you that in a due-diligence questionnaire rather than let you discover it.

  • We do not farm. CloudFARM runs GPUs, not fields. Agriculture is the workload we are built to serve, not land we operate.
